7.6.7.6.D Possible tune – Cruger (H&P 125, R&S 127)
Jonah 3: 1-5, 10
1 Corinthians 7.29-31
Mark 1: 14-20
The life that we are given
Can turn to dull routine;
Each day just like the last one,
The future small and mean.
The joys that we are used to,
The people we know well,
Lose all their strength and wonder,
With nothing new to tell.
The life we take for granted
As if it cannot end
Stands on the edge of chaos,
Whatever we pretend.
But when we heed God’s calling
To leave all that we’ve known,
We set out for a future
Where new seeds can be sown.
The few leave all behind them,
The many stay in place,
With eyes opened to glory
In each familiar face.
This is the world Christ came to,
It’s this that he holds dear.
Our call is to work with him
So everyone can hear.
The kingdom comes each moment,
To call us to repent,
And see in what’s around us,
The seeds of God’s intent;
To use the tools we’re given
God’s mercy to reveal,
And show in word and action
God’s will and pow’r to heal.

The words for the first verse of this hymn don’t seem to fit! Is something missing?
Apart from that – thankyou for such wonderful hymns – I’ve used them all so far.
You’re right, Helen – sorry! Deleted the second line by mistake. Thanks for letting me know – and for the feedback.
