Mark 9.2-9
2 Corinthians 4.3-6
2 Kings 2.1-12

Metre 7.6.7.6.D. – Possible tune – Cruger (H&P 125, R&S 127)

In this, a world of wonder,
We live as in a veil,
To human skill and nature
Our marvel quickly fails.
The things we take for granted
Past dreams could never trace;
The miracles of science
To us seem common place.

The faith we claim to live in
Is robbed of its surprise -
Old miracles repeated,
Old wisdom analysed.
We need a faith that’s living
To see our world transformed,
Christ must reveal God’s glory
For frozen hearts to warm.

By joining in Christ’s journey
We see life swallow death,
All things afire with glory
Engulfed in Sprit’s breath.
Jesus, in death and rising,
Your face with love alight,
Show us, in joy or sorrow,
God’s chariot in flight.
